Pan-Asian restaurant chain stirs market

A chain of restaurants that serves pan-Asian cuisine is entering the Michigan market via West Michigan.
Wok Box will open an 1,800-square-foot location on a Woodland Mall out lot, near TGI Fridays, at 3327 28th St. SE, according to Ben Muller Realty Company in Grand Rapids today. The firm represented the landlord in the deal.
Wok Box may open by the first quarter of next year. An unnamed franchisee will operate the location.
Signature dishes
The company says, “Life doesn’t have to be bland."
It serves stir-fry dishes out of takeout-style boxes, such as naan-wiches, rice boxes, curry boxes and noodle boxes.
Growth
Wok Box was founded in Edmonton, Alberta in 2004.
The chain serves 60 locations in the U.S. and Canada.
Wok Box expects to open 15 locations in the U.S. in 2015 and another 20 to 30 locations in 2016, according to QSR Magazine.
The company is also growing internationally with locations heading to Thailand, Malaysia, Mongolia, Singapore, South Korea, Japan, China, India, Cambodia and Vietnam.
