Amway targets 5M nutrient packets for malnourished children
Amway is setting a new global goal for itself to impact even more food-insecure children.
Amway said last month that it is planning to provide five million of its Nutrilite Little Bits, which are packets of micro-nutrient supplement powder, to malnourished children by the end of 2016.
The goal ─ or “The Power of 5 Million Nutrilite Little Bits” campaign ─ is expected to benefit more than 14,000 malnourished children ages six months to five years old.

Amway started its Little Bits giving program in 2014 as part of its Nutrilite “The Power of 5” campaign.
“The Power of 5” campaign works with humanitarian organizations to distribute Little Bits to families that have malnourished children ages six months to five years old. The packets are distributed in areas where the organizations are educating, providing food and conducting follow-up assessments to be sure children are thriving.
"The Power of 5" campaign has provided essential daily nutrients in the form of Little Bits packets to thousands of children in 11 countries.
Jeff Terry, global manager for corporate social responsibility at Amway, said Amway business owners, employees and members of the public have embraced “The Power of 5” campaign.
He expects partnerships to help the new campaign successfully reach significantly more children.
“We need to develop stronger partnerships with the organizations that are implementing this solution and with people who are supporting our efforts to bring more Nutrilite Little Bits to more children,” Terry said.
Impact of malnourishment
Malnutrition is the cause of more than three million premature deaths of children under the age of five each year, according to the World Health Organization.
Those who survive often suffer lasting effects, including stunted growth, poor cognitive development and low immunity to disease.
Malnutrition also affects school performance and studies have shown it often leads to lower earning potential as an adult.
