Downtown hotel names director of event management
A downtown hotel has a new director of event management.
JW Marriott Grand Rapids said last week that it has promoted Anna Fortier to the position.
Fortier will be responsible for developing strategic plans to build the hotel’s group business and promoting and developing on-site event programming for meeting and event attendees.
By re-engaging attendees that have previously held events at the property, Fortier hopes to increase group business and guest satisfaction.
She also hopes to lead the property to achieve high-ranking event satisfaction goals among all JW Marriott properties in North America.
Brian Behler, general manager of the JW Marriott Grand Rapids, said Fortier is a “strong and detailed leader” and “possesses a skillful and creative eye,” which will be a “great asset” to the hotel as it welcomes more groups in the future.
Fortier began her career with the JW Marriott Grand Rapids in 2010, when she oversaw 50 employees in the housekeeping department.
During her career with JW Marriott, Fortier has been recognized with the hotel’s High Performer of the Year Award for Catering and Events in 2014 and Leader of the Month in December 2014.
The hotel said the recognitions illustrate her “dedication to the hotel.”
Fortier graduated from Grand Valley State University and now serves on GVSU’s Hospitality and Tourism Management Alumni Advisory Board to help plan alumni events, including the annual gala.
