Ford airport opens pre-check enrollment
Grand Rapids travelers will once again have the chance to register for the TSA pre-check program, which expedites the security process for some passengers.
Gerald R. Ford International Airport said passengers will be able to enroll in the Transportation Security Administration, or TSA, program Dec. 7-11 and Dec. 14-18, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., by appointment or walk-in.
The pre-check program allows participating flyers to experience a more efficient airport screening process, by leaving on their shoes, light jackets, belts and leaving laptops and compliant liquids in carry-on bags.
Approved passengers will receive a Known Traveler Number that is good for five years.
TSA pre-check is available at 150 airports with 12 participating airlines.
The TSA pre-check application process allows U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents to go through a pre-enrollment process online and visit an application center to provide biographic information, fingerprints, payment, valid ID and citizenship or immigration documentation.
The TSA pre-check application program also requires a background check and an application fee of $85 for a five-year membership.
