Former Yahoo! executive speaking in Grand Rapids
One of Silicon Valley’s most brilliant strategists is coming to Grand Rapids.
Salim Ismail, a popular technology strategist, software engineer, author and entrepreneur, will be speaking at the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce’s 128th Annual Meeting on Jan. 19. The luncheon event also will include GRACC’s look ahead at 2016, as well as an introduction of the new GRACC board.
The event is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 19, at the JW Marriott in downtown Grand Rapids. Tickets for the event are $65 for members, $75 for others and $850 for a 10-seat corporate table.
“We’re excited to host Salim Ismail and are looking forward to hearing his powerful insights on trends influencing the economic growth of West Michigan,” said Rick Baker, president and CEO of GRACC.

Ismail, the founder of Singularity University and former vice president of Yahoo!, has made a career of helping companies better understand technology in order to change the world for the better. He was named one of New York City’s “Top 40 under 40″ businesspeople in 2003 by Crain’s. His 2014 book “Exponential Organizations: Why new organizations are ten times better, faster, and cheaper than yours (and what to do about it),” was ranked by Forbes as one of the five business books to read in 2016. He has given a number of presentations on technology.
