New York Times ranks Grand Rapids as a top 'place to go' in 2016
The New York Times considers Grand Rapids one of the top places in the world to visit this year.
Grand Rapids ranks No. 20 in the Times’ ranking of “52 Places to Go in 2016,” which was posted today.
Mexico City ranks No. 1, while Beaufort, S.C. ranks No. 52.
The New York Times notes the Grand Rapids' history as the furniture capital of the world and recognizes Herman Miller and Steelcase for developing a creative community that still thrives today.
The publication points to urban renewal and arts funding as reasons to visit and singles out the Downtown Market, ArtPrize and Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park, as well as the community’s more than 40 craft breweries as top attractions.
