Grand Rapids Magazine names best restaurants

Grand Rapids Magazine has named the winners of its 2015 Dining Awards.

Business Journal sister publication Grand Rapids Magazine announced the winners this week, highlighted by the Restaurant of the Year, Grove.

It’s the fourth year in a row Grove in Grand Rapids, at 919 Cherry St. SE, has won Restaurant of the Year, after winning Best New Restaurant in its first year in 2011.

Winners for the nine categories — including the new Best Brewery category — are chosen by Grand Rapids Magazine staff, based on nominations from foodies.

Also in the February issue of Grand Rapids Magazine are Q&As with chefs and owners of the winning restaurants and insider tips of where the pros go to eat.


Restaurant of the Year: Grove, “Still the best.”

New American: Reserve, “World-class wine menu with cuisine to match.”

Classic American: Leo’s, “Fresh seafood and stellar service.”

European: Osteria Rossa, “Italian fare/Midwestern flare in a classy setting.”

Latin American: Donkey Taqueria, “Authentic south-of-the-border items elevated to a new level.”

Best Brewery: Brewery Vivant, “Excellent food that reaches well beyond standard pub fare.”

Best Asian: Wei Wei Palace, “Start Sunday with amazing dim sum.”

Mediterranean: Zeytin, “Delightful Turkish dishes made from scratch.”

Best New Restaurant: The Old Goat, “Home cooking and fun atmosphere in Alger Heights.”
