Brewery opens out-of-state distribution
A West Michigan brewery in the region is set to distribute its beer outside of the state for the first time.
Through a deal with Illinois distributor Breakthru Beverage, Odd Side Ales in Grand Haven will enter Illinois early next month.
Odd Side Ales, founded in 2010, has been named to the “Top 100 Brewers in the World” ranking by RateBeer.com two years in a row.
“We are thrilled to be teaming up with Breakthru Beverage to enter the Illinois craft beer market,” Odd Side owner Chris Michner said. “We appreciate the fact that Breakthru is selective with the brands they represent. We have always believed in small, reasonable growth and believe that we are finally ready to enter a new market.”
Last year, Odd Side Ales increased its production space from 5,000 square feet to 22,000 square feet, and it expects to see increased growth in the near future.
Initial offerings in Illinois will be the brewery’s flagship beers Citra Pale Ale and Bean Flicker Coffee Blonde Ale in package and draft. Seasonal offerings will be available as well.
“When I think of Odd Side Ales, I think of creativity,” said David Kahle, Breakthru Beverage's Illinois master cicerone. “Whether it’s the use of alternative ingredients or their barrel-aging program, Odd Side is pushing at boundaries with amazing, balanced, yet impactful beer.”
