A local packaged-water company is donating water to Flint.

Grand Rapids-based Boxed Water said it made its first delivery of 11,520 units on Feb. 1.

Boxed Water said it will continue making donations throughout the month.

David Lee, COO for Boxed Water, said as a Michigan-based water company, “We strongly believe it's our responsibility to help the community during this time.”

"We encourage everyone involved to continue donations and continue volunteering time and energy to raise awareness for this issue and to help those in need during this time,” Lee said.

Founded in 2009, Boxed Water is an alternative to bottled water. Each carton is recyclable and made using renewable paper from well-managed forests.

Boxed Water is produced and filled in Holland and Lindon, Utah.

The company also has an office in Los Angeles.
