A new marketing firm is focusing on telling the stories of craft brewers and artisan food makers.

Photographers Steph Harding and Scott Meivogel are the pair behind Ash & Ink Media, which provides “media and brand guidance” for individuals in craft industries “across all platforms.”

Ash & Ink is based out of Grand Rapids and Holland and was founded last December. It offers a range of services: photography; social media management, storytelling; print materials; logo and identity design; video; and website design.

Meivogel described brewers, chefs and restaurateurs as “busy people” and said they often find it difficult to find the time and resources to tell their stories, which are “often imperative to their success.”

“I want to help these clients tell their stories with as much passion as they put into their businesses every day,” Harding said.

Both Harding and Meivogel come from a background of covering artisans.

Harding’s professional photography has focused on the beer and restaurant scenes. She also owns, where she contributes her photography to news coverage surrounding Michigan beer, spirits and hard cider.

Meivogel spent years photographing breweries and restaurants in Cleveland, before moving to West Michigan with the goal of growing in that field.

Harding and Meivogel said in Ash & Ink, they are combining their individual skill sets and connections with writers, designers, videographers and more to create a “super team of craft-passionate creators.”

While some may question the decision to specialize as a firm, Harding said she believes it provides a benefit to clients.

“You know exactly what your client will need, and you know exactly how to give it to them,” Harding said.
