Shopping center signs four retailers
A “de-malled” shopping center in the region has attracted four new retailers.
Burlington will be an anchor tenant at The Shops at Westshore in Holland, at 12331 James St., and be accompanied by Disc Traders, FedEx and T-Mobile.
Founded in Burlington, New Jersey in 1972, Burlington sells a variety of “designer merchandise” at discount prices.
Each Disc Traders business is independently owned. The stores buy and sell used video games, CDs and other electronics.
The newly announced tenants will take up more than 65,500 square feet at the shopping center.
The four retailers will join Younkers, JC Penney, GNC, On the Border and Anna’s House at the site.
VERSA Development and its Westshore Mall Investors started the $20 million “de-malling” renovation at the site last year, with completion set for this summer.
“The fact that The Shops at Westshore is filling up as rapidly as we are even before we complete construction demonstrates that companies value what we offer here in Holland and West Michigan — and that’s a robust economy, creative entrepreneurs and a terrific community,” said Greg Erne, VERSA principal and Westshore Mall Investors manager.
With several more letters of intent signed with Colliers International | West Michigan, which is managing leasing, the center is up to 70 percent full.
Colliers advisors Mark Ansara and Earl Clements are leading the leasing and seeking a mix of business services and shopping and dining options to keep the center active day and night.
“We want to make sure that we help put together the right retail mix, so The Shops enjoys long-term growth and sustainability, while encouraging companies to locate here,” Ansara said.
