Ford airport ranks as No. 2 'small' airport in US
Gerald R. Ford International Airport continues to be lauded for its passenger experience.
The airport is ranked the No. 2 "small" airport in the U.S. in a survey conducted via AirportXP, a mobile insights platform by Phoenix Marketing International.
Ford airport scored a 91-percent satisfaction rating, behind only Bellingham International in Washington state for small airports.
Phoenix Marketing International said several small airports round out the top five: Hawaii’s Hilo International Airport (91 percent); Kansas’ Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport (89 percent); and Washington’s Spokane International Airport (88 percent).
Responses were compiled from last November to February and allowed passengers to rate their experiences at 250 of the busiest airports in the nation via a mobile app.
Travelers were asked to rate their experiences on a scale from 1 to 7, with percentages being calculated from the number of travelers who rated their overall satisfaction as a 6 or 7.
More than 170,000 travelers responded to the survey.
The airport size categories were based on passenger volume and classified by the Federal Aviation Administration.
