Gastropub chain plans Grand Rapids location
A renowned gastropub chain in the state is planning to open a location in town.
Traverse City-based 7 Monks Taproom said today that it will open a location in Grand Rapids at the 616 Lofts on Michigan development, at 740 Michigan St. NE.
The taproom will feature 57 taps, including local and global beers, and feature a full menu of “gastropub food.”
The location is slated to open in the late fall.
“We are thrilled by the opportunity to join the thriving beer scene in Grand Rapids,” said Matt Cozzens, co-owner, 7 Monks Taproom. “From day one, we have been honored by great partnerships with some of the city’s leading breweries, and we look forward to joining them in Beer City, U.S.A.”
Cozzens co-owns 7 Monks with Jim Smolak.
7 Monks worked with MRetail Solutions to find the location.
“7 Monks is a great anchor for the project, and we look forward to pulling together a great mix of tenants for the remaining spaces,” said Chris Muller, owner, MRetail.
The original 7 Monks Taproom location in Traverse City opened in 2011.
The gastropub has twice been named one of Draft Magazine’s “100 Best Beer Bars in America” and was recently named one of the “33 Best Beer Bars” by the website Thrillist.
7 Monks is finishing up a Boyne City location as well.
