The "FT 400" ranking by the Financial Times is compiled using information supplied from the largest brokerage firms in the U.S., specifically looking for advisors with more than 10 years of experience and more than $300 million in assets under management.
The nearly 1,000 qualifying advisors were then asked to submit a questionnaire with more information on their practices.
The research team then chose the 400 top advisors using a formula based on six broad categories: assets under management; AUM growth rate; years of experience; compliance record; industry certifications; and online accessibility.
