A hotel in town just off a major retail corridor has finished a comprehensive $3-million “cosmetic” renovation.

Holiday Inn Grand Rapids Airport, at 3063 Lake Eastbrook Blvd. SE, south of 28th Street SE, said this week that it has renovated the rooms, restaurant, bar and meeting space at the five-story hotel.

The project began in the last quarter of 2015.

The property is owned by SSH TRS I LLC and managed by White Lodging Services Corporation.

“The renovation occurred because the ownership group believes in the future economic growth and expansion of the Grand Rapids area and western Michigan,” White Lodgings Corporate Communications Manager Katy Horst wrote an in email to the Business Journal.

The Holiday Inn Grand Rapids Airport has given its 90 king and 58 queen rooms “a facelift,” featuring “the highest level of comfort and modern décor,” including upgrading the queen rooms from two full-size beds to two queen beds.

The hotel’s restaurant and bar, Grille 29, was updated with new furniture and carpet and a new bar top.

The renovation project also included an upgrade of the hotel’s 2,500 square feet of meeting space.

"With the beautiful modernization of the hotel, we feel that the hotel's upgrades match the exceptional levels of service that our guests have come to expect," said Jeffrey Lawn, general manager, Holiday Inn Grand Rapids Airport. "We cannot wait for our guests to experience the new look and feel for themselves."
