Six West Michigan communities are considered to be among the top 25 "best" places to live in Michigan.

The communities appear on the ranking of the 2016 “Best Places to Live in Michigan,” which was posted last month by the website Niche, which provides "in-depth reviews and analysis" of neighborhoods, K-12 schools and colleges.

Four of the communities are Grand Rapids suburbs and two of them are lakeshore communities: East Grand Rapids, No. 3; Forest Hills, No. 12; Ada, No. 13; Cascade Charter Township, No. 22; Park Township, No. 23; and Beechwood No. 25.

Grand Rapids ranks No. 81.

West Michigan communities also make up 13 of the top 50 and 33 of the top-100 communities in the ranking.

East Grand Rapids ranks No. 78 on Niche's national ranking of the best places to live.

The rankings are based on a variety of crime, public school, cost of living and job opportunity statistics.

The statistics come from a variety of sources, such as the U.S. Census Bureau, FBI, U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
