A Coney dog chain is opening a location along a major retail corridor in town.

Restaurant Partners said today that it will open a new Grand Coney location next week in Grand Rapids, at 5121 28th St. SE.

The company operates two other Grand Coney locations in Grand Rapids and one in Allendale.

The new location will open on Aug. 17 and host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Aug. 16, starting at 3 p.m.

Lauren Hotaling will be the general manager of the location.

Prior to the grand opening, soft opening events were held to ensure the staff were trained. The events also helped raise $1,660 for the Child Assessment Center.

Growth brand

Restaurant Partners Owner Jeff Lobdell said the Grand Coney concept is a strong growth brand for the company, which also owns Sundance Grill & Bar, Omelette Shoppe, Beltline Bar, Bagel Beanery and more. The company owns 16 restaurants in West Michigan.

“This fourth location gives us great brand positioning, as we actively expand in the Grand Coney brand,” Lobdell said. “The West Michigan market is hungry for genuine Coney dogs like you find on the east side of the state.”

Grand Coney features Detroit-style Coney dogs with chili sauce and Flint-style Coney dogs with seasoned meat sauce, as well as a variety of American and Greek comfort foods and all-day breakfast.
