There’s a new managing director at a commercial real estate firm in town.

Colliers West Michigan said today that it has named Jon Potvin to the role.

Potvin said he's "excited" to join the company and looks forward to "enhancing Colliers’ shareholder and client relationships," building on its success and "expanding its presence throughout the region.”

Potvin will have responsibility for the firm’s strategic and operational direction, working alongside Colliers West Michigan Director of Operations Jamie Stiles.

Stiles said he will “play a valuable role in strengthening and expanding our organization.”

“Jon has a proven track record of success in business strategy and development,” Colliers West Michigan CEO Duke Suwyn said. “We believe his deep ties to West Michigan will support Colliers and our clients, as well as drive further growth across our organization.”

Potvin's background

Most recently, Potvin was VP of business development at Allied Mechanical Services.

Previously, Potvin was general manager of Midwest Energy Group and a senior mortgage consultant at First Horizon Home Loans.

He serves on the board of directors for Associated Builders and Contractors of Western Michigan and is a member of the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce.

Potvin graduated from Calvin College in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in political science.

In July, Colliers International West Michigan was acquired by its parent firm, Colliers International Group, and later re-branded as Colliers West Michigan.

Colliers West Michigan has offices in Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo and Holland.

The acquisition of former affiliates by the international real estate company is a growing trend, including in St. Louis and Indianapolis.

“We’re not into fixer-uppers,” Colliers International CFO John Friedrichsen told the Business Journal in July. “We want really well-run businesses with strong capabilities in markets we hand pick.”
