Downtown hosts fireworks expo
Explosions will light the sky outside of Grand Rapids as part of a fireworks expo being hosted downtown this week.
Punctuating the week-long National Fireworks Association, or NFA, Expo at DeVos Place in Grand Rapids, the expo will produce public fireworks displays in the evenings at Berlin Raceway in Marne, just northwest of Grand Rapids, beginning tomorrow and running through Saturday.
The expo culminates with a monster truck rally and grand finale fireworks show at the raceway on Saturday night.
Berlin Raceway will host the nightly live demonstrations, which will feature displays and competitions from multiple pyrotechnics companies.
Saturday’s Grand Public Display and Monster Truck Throwdown will begin with engines starting at 7 p.m., followed by the grand finale display, sponsored by Wolverine Fireworks. The event is free and open to the public.
The NFA Trade Show will take place at DeVos Place from Tuesday to Sunday.
More than 250 exhibitors will attend the expo, which showcases various types of fireworks and pyrotechnics, trends, innovation and safety improvements in the industry.
The National Fireworks Association works to ensure the fireworks industry is regulated in “a fair and sensible manner” and promotes safety when using pyrotechnic products.
