A local park will be overrun by both two-legged and four-legged athletes this Saturday.

The Humane Society of West Michigan is hosting its fourth-annual Bark in the Dark 5k in Grand Rapids at Riverside Park.

The event is a dog friendly, glow-in-the-dark fun run and walk.

Registration and pre-race activities — including a photo booth, face painting and giveaways — for the event begin at 5 p.m., with the run and walk beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Following the race, there will be a celebration with a beer tent and complimentary treats.

Individual registration is $10 for kids ages 5-17 and $35 for adults. Day-of registration is $40 for adults. People can register online until 11:59 p.m. tonight.

Registrants are invited to create an online fundraising profile through Crowdrise, with all proceeds going toward the shelter. If a registrant meets certain fundraising goals, they can receive a long-sleeve shirt, a sweatshirt or a duffle bag filled with prizes and a long-sleeve shirt or sweatshirt.
