Law firm launches HR portal

A law firm is helping its business clients with their human resources needs by providing an online portal that goes beyond the legal realm and is aimed at addressing common challenges.

Detroit-based Clark Hill, which has a Grand Rapids office, said this month it has developed HR/Advantage, which is setup to “better connect human resource professionals to fast-changing trends in employment and benefits law, helping to shape their legal and business strategies.”

The portal takes visitors to HR-related resources, products and services from the firm.

Paul Boehms, Clark Hill practice group leader, said recent conversations with clients revealed that business’ HR departments need more than legal work to keep up with changes in laws and regulations.

“So, we invested in technology and utilized the experience of our labor and employment attorneys to deliver products and services that offer a wide range of options to address their most common challenges,” Boehms said.

The HR/Advantage home page says clients will be able to "stay current with the complex requirements and demands of employment and benefits law."

Boehms said two additional benefits of HR/Advantage are a "predictable fee structure" for offerings and that it can be accessed "anywhere and anytime" with mobile technology.

HR/Advantage features a number of elements: compliance toolkits to assist with adherence to FLSA, FMLA and other regulations; a catalog of in person and online training for employees and HR management; e-learning via an online platform, with participation via desktop computers or mobile devices; resources such as common documents, so clients don’t "have to create them from scratch"; and more.
