A West Michigan architecture firm has built itself into the best firm to work for in its industry.

TowerPinkster, with offices in Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids, was named the Best Firm to Work For in the Nation in the architecture category at the Zweig Group 2016 Hot Firm & A/E Awards Conference this week in Phoenix, Arizona.

TowerPinkster also received a Fast Growth Award at the conference.

Best workplace

The award was based on TowerPinkster receiving the highest rates of employee satisfaction, employee benefits, retention rates and firm culture.

More than 94 percent of employees surveyed said the firm is one of the best to work for in the industry and would recommend TowerPinkster to a friend looking for employment. TowerPinkster also scored high in management, ethics, work quality and compensation.

TowerPinkster President and CEO Bjorn Green and Human Resources Manager Carrie Hoch-Mortlock were on hand to accept the award in Arizona.

“It is an honor to be recognized as a leader in this field,” Hock-Mortlock said. “This award reflects the dedication and passion of our great employees. It is great to know that our industry acknowledges the importance of employee engagement with culture-focused awards and programs.”

Other winners were selected in surveying, structural, environmental, civil engineering and multi-discipline categories.

Fast growth

Zweig Group’s Fast Growth Awards were given to firms that have grown more than 20 percent the past year.

Founded in 1953, TowerPinkster designs work across a wide spectrum of industries, including health care, commercial, education and government. TowerPinkster employs more than 90 people between its offices in Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids.

The firm also has won When Work Works’ Flexible Workplace Award, Engineering News-Record’s “Midwest Top Design Firms” designation and American Heart Association’s Gold Fit-Friendly Worksite Award this year.
