Staffing agency enters market
A national staffing agency has opened an office in town.
Fresno, California-based PrideStaff opened last week a 1,300-square-foot location in Grand Rapids, at 2700 Kraft Ave. SE. It is the first Michigan location for the company, which has 74 offices.
PrideStaff Grand Rapids, led by franchisee Matt Blok and staffed by two other employees, will offer temporary and temporary-to-hire services for light industrial manufacturing jobs, as well as office, administrative and accounting roles.
Blok said he decided to start a PrideStaff location in the Grand Rapids area after researching franchise options.
“It’s a great company...that really fit my personal values,” he said. “That was first and foremost, but I also really liked the proven business model and having the ability to be locally owned and still leverage that national presence was really appealing.”
PrideStaff leases its space in a plaza with anchor tenants Goodwill and Biggby Coffee, from Pinnacle, with NAI Wisinski of West Michigan as the broker. Chase corporate financed the deal.
Blok said the landlord made minimal renovations before the space opened, but PrideStaff Grand Rapids hopes to expand its space even further as the business gets established.
“(Our) focus will be on strong customer service and delivering quality,” he said. “It’s the core of the company and what we try to focus on.”
PrideStaff, which serves more than 5,000 clients, was founded in the 1970s and began franchising in 1995.
PrideStaff said it is the only commercial staffing firm in the U.S. with more than $100 million in annual revenue to earn Inavero’s Best of Staffing Diamond Award for three years in a row.
