Publication names firms M&A award finalists
A private equity firm and a public relations agency have been named finalists for multiple awards by a national M&A publication.
Grand Rapids-based Blackford Capital is a finalist in 10 award categories, including National Private Equity Firm of the Year, by The M&A Advisor.
Grand Rapids-based Lambert, Edwards & Associates, or LE&A, has been named a finalist for Communications Firm of the Year.
Winners will be announced at the 15th-annual M&A Advisor Awards gala tomorrow at the New York Athletic Club.
Blackford Capital Founder and Managing Director Martin Stein, who was named a finalist for Private Equity Professional of the Year, said the firm accomplished and exceeded many of its goals for 2016 and looks forward to continuing its growth.
“Our talented team produced an outstanding year of results through their hard work and dedication, and we are always appreciative of recognition from such a highly regarded and credible publication in our industry," Stein said.
In addition to being a finalist for firm of the year and professional of the year, Blackford was named a finalist for the following deals:
- Private Equity Deal of the Year, M&A Deal of the Year and Materials Deal of the Year for Blackford’s acquisition of Quality Aluminum Products
- Private Equity Deal of the Year and Industrials Deal of the Year for Blackford’s acquisition of Grand Equipment
- Equity Financing of the Year and Private Equity Deal of the Year for Blackford’s financing of portfolio company Staging Concepts and its acquisition of Architectural Railings & Grilles
- Corporate and Strategic Acquisition of the Year for portfolio company Grand Transformers’ acquisition of Warner Power
In 2015, Blackford was awarded Deal of the Year by The M&A Advisor for its acquisition of Amtech Corporation and the subsequent merger with McClarin Plastics.
LE&A in M&A
Lambert, Edwards & Associates said it has worked on more than 30 deals in 2016.
The firm provides PR, marketing and transaction communications for investment banking, venture capital, private equity and portfolio company clients.

The firm has 11 portfolio companies across the country and reviewed roughly 4,500 transactions in 2015. Blackford invests in mature, profitable businesses with revenues between $20 million and $100 million.
