Law firm founding partner earns Lifetime Achievement Award
A local attorney and founding partner of his firm has received an area foundation’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
L. Roland “Bud” Roegge, of Smith Haughey Rice & Roegge’s Grand Rapids office, was given the award by the Justice Foundation of West Michigan.
The award, created in 2013, recognizes “individuals who, through their time, talent and resources, exemplify a commitment to the principles of improving the administration of justice, educating the public about core democratic values and promoting legal services to the disadvantaged,” according to the foundation.
Roegge, who has practiced law since 1963, represents health care providers and attorneys in professional liability suits and business litigation, including environmental, tort and contractual matters. He also serves as a facilitative mediator.
He has volunteered for the Justice Foundation of West Michigan, Legal Aid of West Michigan and Dégagé Ministries.
He is a past recipient of the Grand Rapids Bar Association’s Donald R. Worsfold Distinguished Service Award, Michigan Defense Trial Counsel’s Excellence in Defense Award and NALS of West Michigan’s Legal Professional of the Year Award.
The Justice Foundation of West Michigan, the charitable arm of the Grand Rapids Bar Association, is a private organization that serves the community through the funding of programs that promote or provide legal services to the disadvantaged, improve the administration of justice and educate the public about democratic values.
