Tourism exec wins national award
A tourism exec in town is considered one of the top twenty-something professionals in the country by an industry association.
Experience Grand Rapids, or EXGR, said this month Nichole Steele, the organization’s national sales director, has been chosen as a 20 in Their Twenties award winner by the Convention Management Association, or PCMA.
The program was created four years ago to engage the best and brightest in the meetings, conventions and business events industry.
The PCMA selects 20 people 29 years or younger who it believes will “help shape the future of the meetings industry.”
Candidates apply from across the nation.
Steele applied via video submission, highlighting her “passion for Grand Rapids” and her career in hospitality.
Steele is also an employee of The Mitten Brewing Co., and she will begin a role as an adjunct professor at Grand Rapids Community College in January teaching craft brewery taproom management.
Steele said being recognized “means so much to me.”
“I am happy for not only this personal recognition, but for my organization and city to be recognized as well,” she said.
Honorees receive mentoring sessions from industry leaders as part of their awards.
