Health center receives $110K donation for dental care
A public health center for teenagers has added dental care to its portfolio of services.
The Hackley Community Care Oakridge Teen Center in Muskegon High School recently received a $110,993 donation from the Delta Dental Foundation to fully furnish and equip three dental operatories at the health center.
Officially opened in 2015, the Oakridge Teen Health Center provides mental and behavioral health services to students ages 10 through 21 in the Oakridge Public Schools district.
Community needs assessment surveys and school and community health worker referral priorities called for dental services, which necessitated the expansion. Additionally, data from Mercy Health showed dental pain was one of the top three reasons for emergency room visits.
By adding three modern dental suites, the teen health center will be able to provide a range of dental services, including cleanings, exams, X-rays, extractions and sealants.
