Diocese of Grand Rapids names CFO
The Diocese of Grand Rapids has a new chief financial officer.
Michael Lown has been hired for the position.
He will be responsible for the management of the diocese’s financial activities, human resources, information technology, investments, insurance, property and legal matters.
He will also work closely with parishes, schools and related foundations.
Lown previously served as the corporate controller for The Motorcycle Company in Grand Rapids.
He has also served in accounting and finance positions with DP Fox / FMG Holdings and Rogers Department Store.
Lown volunteers many hours with Catholic organizations in the diocese, currently serving as treasurer on the Aquinas College Board of Trustees and as chair of the board for Grand Rapids Catholic Central High School.
He is a parishioner at Saint Thomas the Apostle in Grand Rapids.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from Aquinas College and is a CPA.
Grand Rapids Bishop David Walkowiak said Lown’s previous experiences, commitment to the Catholic church and to community services make him an “ideal candidate.”
“I am pleased to bring Michael on board,” Walkowiak said.
The Diocese of Grand Rapids serves more than 191,000 Catholics, 82 parishes and 30 schools in an 11-county area of West Michigan.
