Law firm elects shareholder
A statewide law firm has elected a local family law attorney as a shareholder.
Foster, Swift, Collins & Smith said last month it elected Barbra Homier of its Grand Rapids office to the position.
Homier exclusively practices family law, including divorce, adoption and custody matters.
She said she’s excited to become a shareholder.
“I really appreciate the opportunity to be part of the Foster Swift law firm and look forward to continuing to grow my family law practice as a shareholder,” Homier said.
Her duties at the firm will remain unchanged.
The firm also has offices in Holland, St. Joseph, Lansing, Southfield and Detroit.
Previously, Homier practiced law at Varnum for almost 10 years and was a partner there.
She had an internship with the Open Justice Commission of Lansing and an externship with Judge Richard Suhrheinrich of the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Homier is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and Michigan Board of Accountancy, vice chair of the family law practice of the Grand Rapids Bar Association and serves on the board of the Forest Hills Eastern lacrosse team.
She's a graduate of the Michigan State University College of Law and University of Arizona.
Foster Swift also elected shareholders who will serve at its other Michigan offices: Alicia Birach and Adam Fadly in Southfield; and Lauren Dunn, Anna Gibson, Nicholas Oertel and Patricia Scott in Lansing.
