Brewery releasing limited-edition Mexican Spice Cake stout
A West Michigan brewery will release a new variant of its best-selling beer this weekend.
New Holland Brewing said yesterday it will release Dragon’s Milk Reserve Mexican Spice Cake on Saturday.
The beer uses the brewery’s Dragon’s Milk bourbon-barrel stout as the base and ages three months with toasted chilies, cocoa nibs, vanilla and cinnamon.
The beer has a “soft chili heat,” which is balanced by the vanilla and cinnamon, according to New Holland VP of Marketing Joel Petersen.
Both New Holland pub locations, on 8th Street in Holland and The Knickerbocker in Grand Rapids, will host release parties on Saturday.
The beer will be available on tap, as well as in four-packs and cases in the brand's "retail spaces."
“We first brewed this variation for Michigan Brewers’ Guild Winter Beer Fest in February 2016,” New Holland Brewing President Brett VanderKamp said. “And it’s been a fan favorite ever since.”
In January, New Holland released Dragon’s Milk Reserve Triple Mash, and a third Dragon’s Milk Reserve will be released in July.
Dragon’s Milk was first released in 2001 as a single-batch annual release. It has since grown into New Holland’s top-selling year-round beer.
