Law firm hires director of marketing and business development
A local law firm has named a 25-year veteran of the legal industry to serve as the firm’s director of marketing and business development.
Grand Rapids-based Warner Norcross & Judd said it hired Joseph Melnick for the role this winter.
He will split his time primarily between the firm’s Grand Rapids and Southfield offices.
Melnick oversees the firm’s marketing, business development and communications initiatives.
“He brings tremendous expertise in all aspects of marketing and business development to the firm, along with extensive experience working in the legal field,” said Douglas Dozeman, managing partner, Warner Norcross & Judd.
Melnick has served as an independent consultant and an in-house director for national and regional law firms.
Most recently, he served as president and managing director of KNC Strategies in Detroit, a consulting firm that provided business development, strategy and marketing services to legal and professional services firms and nonprofits.
Previously, Melnick led business development initiatives for Honigman and Butzel Long in both firms’ Detroit offices. He led their expansion efforts into new markets and practice areas, instituted branding and positioning initiatives, coached pitch teams and established programs to enhance individual skills and firm visibility.
He is a member of the Legal Marketing Association and Marketing and Sales Executives of Detroit and has been involved in leadership roles with several Detroit-area organizations.
Melnick serves on the International Advisory Board of the Automation Alley Technology Consortium and the International Business Attraction Committee for the Detroit Regional Economic Partnership. He also serves on the Michigan community advisory board and was state advocacy chair for the American Diabetes Association.
Melnick holds an M.B.A. from Tulane University and a B.A. from the New College of Florida in Sarasota.
Established in 1931, Warner Norcross & Judd is a corporate law firm with 230 attorneys practicing in eight offices throughout Michigan: Grand Rapids, Southfield, Clinton Township, Midland, Muskegon, Kalamazoo, Holland and Lansing.
