Kent County has received three bids for a building downtown.

Kent County is currently evaluating the bids for its 108,000-square-foot building at 82 Ionia Ave. NW in Grand Rapids.

Jenison-based West Michigan Housing Alliance bid $10 million, Grand Rapids-based Rockford Development Group bid $7.075 million and Naperville, Illinois-based Franklin Partners bid $3.4 million.

The building is currently 65 percent occupied with several county departments. The site also includes a 129-space parking ramp. Relocation of the departments could take 18 months, according to the county.

The bids are in response to the county’s second request for proposals for the building. It was issued in February with a May 3 deadline.

Ferris State University’s Kendall College of Art and Design offered $10 million during the first RFP process, but it backed out last summer. Along with KCAD, Franklin Partners and New York-based The Embassy Group also responded in the initial process.
