Hospice care provider expands space
A local nonprofit has expanded its office by 500 square feet.
Grand Rapids-based Emmanuel Hospice expanded its offices at 2161 Leonard St. NW to accommodate eight team members who have been hired in the last six months.
The expansion includes a new conference room with a television and enhanced technology, three new offices — one of which is reserved for grief support sessions — and a new break room for staff and volunteers.
“As we continue to focus on our patients and the critical we role we play in their lives, we wanted to design a space for our staff and volunteers to thrive in their environment,” Emmanuel Hospice Executive Director Sara Lowe said. “Our expansion aims to provide our staff with a base and resources they need to provide quality care to our patients.”
Founded in 2013, Emmanuel Hospice is a nonprofit faith-based provider of hospice care born of a collaboration between St. Ann’s Home, Clark Retirement Community, Porter Hills and Sunset Manor.
Emmanuel Hospice currently cares for up to 70 families a day in four West Michigan counties. In 2016, the organization provided care for more than 300 patients and approximately 925 caregivers.
The nonprofit also provides grief counseling services and support and education on end-of-life issues.
