Brewery releasing seasonal coffee stout
A West Michigan brewery is packaging a new beer made with coffee from a Grand Rapids roaster.
Galesburg-based Bell’s Brewery will release Arabicadabra in October, made with coffee from Ferris Coffee & Nut.
Arabicadabra is a new addition to the Bell’s seasonal beer lineup, replacing Java Stout. Java Stout will not be gone forever, Bell’s CEO Laura Bell said.
“When we announced this year’s release calendar late last year, we knew there were a few more surprises to come. This is one of them,” Bell said.
Arabicadabra is a 5.5-percent ABV coffee milk stout, which will be released on draft and in six-packs of 12-ounce bottles.
The beer is made with a cold coffee extract using Ferris coffee from Nicaragua and Sumatra. Also added in the brew is lactose, used for creaminess.
Ferris coffee is used by multiple breweries, including Founders Brewing Co. for brews such as KBS, Breakfast Stout and Sumatra Mountain Brown.
Arabicadabra is “inspired” by a 2015 draft-only specialty beer by Bell’s called Milchkaffe.
Bell’s will distribute Arabicadabra throughout its distribution footprint, which will include New Mexico by the fall. Bell’s is in 31 states, Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C.
