Grocer's employees rank among 'top women' in industry
Two local women from a grocery store chain are being recognized by a national industry publication.
Progressive Grocer has recognized the women from SpartanNash in its ranking of the "Top Women in Grocery,” which honors 348 total women across the country.
The women will be honored at an awards gala Nov. 9 in Rosemont, Illinois.
Nine SpartanNash employees appear in the ranking, including two from the Grand Rapids area: Support/Front-End Systems Coordinator Doreen Hansen and Caledonia Store Manager Mary Mulder.
“We are honored to have so many strong female leaders as part of our company,” SpartanNash President and CEO Dave Staples said. “These women represent each segment of our company — military, retail and distribution — and their contributions are what make SpartanNash successful.”
Since 2012, Progressive Grocer has recognized 48 women from SpartanNash in its annual ranking.
“The women we pay tribute to as our 2017 Top Women in Grocery are among the best this industry has to offer,” Progressive Grocer Managing Editor Bridget Goldschmidt. “Every year, finalizing the list of honorees is a difficult task, and this year was no exception, as there are so many talented and accomplished women now working in all facets of grocery.”
