Goods for a dollar will once again be available at four retail locations in the Grand Rapids area.

Four Dollar Express stores that closed in June will re-open later this year as Dollar General stores, according to Dollar General.

The four stores are located across the region: 4451 Breton Rd. SE and 1625 Leonard St. NE in Grand Rapids; 1540 28th St. SW in Wyoming; and 1006 S. Washington Ave. in Holland.

Dollar General sells health and beauty products, home cleaning supplies and other merchandise for about $1.

Tennessee-base Dollar General acquired 323 Dollar Express stores across 36 states, including 20 in Michigan, in April from the private equity firm Sycamore Partners.

Similar store conversions will occur in various U.S. markets: Chicago; St. Louis; Charlotte, North Carolina; Cincinnati; Cleveland; Hampton Roads, Virginia; and St. George, Utah, according to an article by Progressive Grocer.

The stores will open following renovations, which will include an improved layout and six to 10 employees per store, Progressive Grocer says.

Dollar General has more than 13,600 stores in 44 states.
