Plastics supplier investing $5.8M in operations
A plastic components maker is investing $5.8 million in the state, including at one of its West Michigan facilities.
Wright Plastic Products Co. LLC is expanding its plants in St. Clair and Sheridan, creating 40 jobs at the two facilities. The Sheridan plant will receive three new two-shot machines.
Wright Plastic, which is headquartered in Sheridan, has expanded its St. Clair plant to add a variety of two-shot injection molding machines and added a third facility in Tennessee since 2009. President Bob Luce said the plastic parts maker’s continued growth necessitated an expansion.
By expanding in Michigan over Tennessee, Wright was awarded a $160,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corp. Additionally, the city of St. Clair offered support in the form of a $143,000 tax abatement.
“The city of St. Clair is pleased to support Wright Plastic Products’ decision to expand its business in our community,” Mayor Bill Cedar said. “We look forward to the additional job opportunities this will create for both local and regional residents in St. Clair County.”
The project also received support from Economic Development Alliance of St. Clair County, the Montcalm Economic Alliance and Grand Rapids-based The Right Place Inc.
“The Montcalm Economic Alliance and The Right Place are pleased and grateful that Wright Plastic Products has chosen to further invest and expand in our community,” said Kathy Jo VanderLaan, The Right Place Montcalm County business development coordinator. “We look forward to working with them as they continue to grow as a strategic supplier to automotive and other industries.”
