Food distributor hires CFO
A locally based grocery distributor has a new chief financial officer.
Byron Center-based SpartanNash said yesterday it hired Mark Shamber as executive vice president and CFO.
Shamber will direct finance, mergers and acquisitions, treasury, internal audit, real estate and risk management.
"We look forward to having Mark join our team," said David Staples, president and CEO, SpartanNash. "Mark’s expertise in the food distribution industry, especially in the natural and organic space and with independent grocers and national chains, as well as his overall M&A prowess make him an excellent fit for SpartanNash and will help drive our future success.”
Most recently, Shamber worked as an independent consultant and served as vice chairman of the board for Day Kimball Healthcare in Putnam, Connecticut.
Previously, he worked in the audit practice of Ernst & Young, in the finance department of Reebok International and served as CFO for United Natural Foods, a specialty and organic food distributor.
He holds a B.S. in accountancy from Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts.
SpartanNash is a Fortune 400 grocery distributor and retailer, which serves independent grocers, national accounts, U.S. military commissaries and its own corporate-owned stores.
The company serves customer locations across the U.S. and in Europe, Cuba, Bahrain and Egypt.
It operates 150 supermarkets.
