A maker of outdoor recreational products is establishing a new headquarters in the region and investing in its operations.

KL Outdoor/GSC Future Beach, which says it is the world's largest kayak maker, said yesterday it is leaving its old headquarters in Muskegon, at 1790 Sun Dolphin Rd.

The company will be leasing the entire second floor of the Terrace Point office building in downtown Muskegon, at 700 Terrace Point Dr.

The company also said it plans to invest $9.2 million and create 153 jobs at its three locations in the Muskegon area.

The company is the result of a merger between KL Outdoor in Muskegon and GSC Technologies in Montreal.

For more than 30 years, the companies have produced recreational products, such as kayaks, paddleboards and canoes, that are sold by numerous retailers, including Meijer, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Walmart.
