Downtown hosting mom-to-mom sale
A downtown venue will host a semi-annual mom-to-mom sale of gently used clothing and goods this weekend.
The fall West Michigan Mom’s Sale is set for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday at DeVos Place in Grand Rapids, at 303 Monroe Ave. NW.
The event was founded in 2008 by a group of local moms to give other moms in the area an inexpensive way to shop for their growing kids’ clothing and toys and sell what their kids have outgrown.
Attendees can buy and sell new and gently used baby and children’s clothing, toys, furniture, shoes, quilts, burp cloths, bikes, car seats, strollers, swings, highchairs, exersaucers, cribs, accessories and more.
Organizers Danielle Wells and Denise Kohler-Kolesar — the former owner of Kohler Expos — said the event’s large-item section offers especially good deals.
Aisles at the event will be 10-feet wide to accommodate moms with small strollers.
Those interested in being vendors may register at online. Sellers keep 100 percent of their profits.
Event volunteers will be given the chance to shop the sale before it opens to the public.
Admission to the sale is free, with a suggested donation of $3-$5 at the door. Proceeds and leftover wares will be donated to The Salvation Army and Safe Haven Ministries.
Sales will be handled in cash, and checks won't be accepted. Buyers should bring their own shopping bags.
