Frontier Airlines, which returned to Gerald R. Ford International Airport this summer, is adding more seasonal non-stop service to Florida.

Ford airport said today that Frontier is adding three weekly non-stop flights from Grand Rapids to Fort Myers on an A320 aircraft.

The Fort Myers service is in addition to Frontier’s Grand Rapids to Orlando and Grand Rapids to Denver flights, which were announced with the airline’s return last month.

The new service will begin Dec. 10 and operate through April 2018.

“We are thankful to already see growth in Frontier’s route map, especially to a popular destination like Fort Myers,” said Jim Gill, president and CEO, Ford airport. “As we all know, non-stop service to our Florida markets is important, especially from December through April.”

Previously, passengers could only fly non-stop from Grand Rapids to Fort Myers via Southwest Airlines’ seasonal service.

Ford airport also offers non-stop flights to several other Florida destinations: Orlando, Tampa, St. Petersburg, Punta Gorda and Fort Lauderdale.

The first flights from Grand Rapids to Fort Myers are currently booking for about $51, according to Frontier’s website.

“Fort Myers is the gateway to the southwest Florida region,” said Richard Oliver, a Frontier spokesperson.
