Contractors association appoints VP of workforce development
A local association of contractors has named its new vice president of workforce development.
The Associated Builders and Contractors West Michigan Chapter, or ABC/WMC, said last week it promoted Jen Schottke to the role.
She has served ABC/WMC for nearly four years as marketing and membership director and director of workforce development.
Schottke will lead the development and implementation of ABC/WMC training and education programs involving craft, apprentice, management, leadership and safety.
“It’s a really exciting time in construction, and there’s an opportunity for young people to launch their career and for industry professionals to advance their skills,” Schottke said. “I’m honored and excited to be a part of this growing trend.”
Schottke will continue her work with West Michigan K-12 schools, community groups, economic development corporations, government entities and other associations to enhance the image of the commercial construction industry and promote the extensive career opportunities in the region.
“Thanks to the vision of the ABC/WMC Board of Directors, our chapter has become the leading provider of commercial construction training in West Michigan, and Jen has played a major role in this growth by successfully creating over 20 new craft, leadership and safety training programs in the last three years alone,” said Norm Brady, president and CEO, ABC/WMC.
Previously, Schottke was the director of marketing and business development for CD Barnes Construction in Grand Rapids.
She was also association executive at Professional Association Resources in Grand Rapids.
She is also an elected official on the Grand Rapids Public Schools Board of Education.
