Association names Excellence in Construction winners
A local association has honored the construction industry’s best work over the last year.
The Associated Builders and Contractors Western Michigan Chapter, or ABC/WMC, revealed last week the winners of its Excellence in Construction awards.
The Excellence in Construction awards highlight individuals and companies in various categories from safety to general construction.
“Recognizing these individuals and companies who take such pride in continually providing excellent work in our communities is always rewarding, and we congratulate and thank all of the participants for their dedication,” said Norm Brady, president and CEO, ABC/WMC.
Twelve ABC/WMC member companies competed for the 2017 Safety Award of Excellence. The award identifies companies that demonstrate continued commitment to job-site safety and strive to make these values an integral part of their day-to-day cultures.
Holland-based Elzinga & Volkers earned the Safety Award of Excellence in the General Contractor/Construction Manager category. Byron Center-based Buist Electric was also presented the Safety Award of Excellence in the Trade Contractor category.
Pro of the year
ABC/WMC also announced the winner of the 2017 Craft Professional of the Year, or CPOY, which is given to a professional who exhibits outstanding craftsmanship and leadership.
The CPOY was given to Jeff Dickman, a project supervisor for Van Dyken Mechanical. Don Van Beek of Erhardt Construction and Tory Clinger of Kent Companies were also finalists for the CPOY.
