Hispanic chamber issues RFP for gala
The West Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has issued a request for proposals for a paid event coordinator position for its annual fundraiser gala.
The Grand Rapids-based chamber sent out an email on yesterday, asking for RFPs for the contractor role for the event planning, coordination and oversight of the organization’s largest fundraiser, the Annual Awards Gala.
Citing the need to increase net income from the event beyond its one-time record of $50,000, the chamber said it is looking for someone who can commit to the position for the 2018, 2019 and 2020 galas.
Hiring a coordinator will also free up the board and staff members from having to plan the event, the chamber said.
All RFPs must include several elements: the candidate’s background and experience planning similar events; a minimum of two references from prior superiors regarding successful event outcomes; a list of possible conflicts of interest; and an overview of how the candidate plans to increase attendance, awareness and net income for the gala.
RFPs are due by Nov. 3, and the chamber’s board will review candidates and make a selection at its Nov. 8 board meeting.
The tentative date for the next gala is March 21, 2018.
Proposals should be sent to Guillermo Cisneros, executive director of the Hispanic chamber, at guillermo at westmihcc dot org.
