Furniture maker partners with lighting company
A local office furniture maker is now offering decorative lighting products made by an Italian company.
Grand Rapids-based Steelcase began offering products this month from Merano, Italy-based FLOS.
The “finely crafted” product collections include pendants, sconces and table and floor lamps.
Steelcase is selling the FLOS lighting products throughout the U.S. and Canada. The products supplement Steelcase's existing portfolio of desk-mounted, mobile, single- and multi-user, freestanding and energy-efficient lighting products for corporate, education and health care uses.
Steelcase said its relationship with FLOS offers “greater choice and consolidated distribution by the largest dealer network in the industry.”
FLOS' products help "create inspiring and inviting places to work,” said Allan Smith, VP of global marketing, Steelcase.
“This new relationship helps architects, designers and clients by providing convenient access to a range of compelling design options supported by reliable, commercial distribution at scale,” Smith said.
FLOS offers residential, commercial and custom products, and its designs are included in permanent collections of design and art museums around the world.
“FLOS is delighted to work with Steelcase, bringing our lighting designs to one of the great furniture companies in the world and its far-reaching dealer network in North America,” said Jack Schreur, CEO, FLOS USA.
Founded in 1912, Steelcase (NYSE: SCS) offers a portfolio of architectural, furniture and technology products and services designed to “unlock human promise and support social, economic and environmental sustainability.”
Steelcase sells through its family of brands: Steelcase, Coalesse, Designtex, PolyVision, Turnstone and Workspring.
The global manufacturer has more than 800 dealer locations and reported fiscal 2017 revenue of $3 billion.
Established in 1962, FLOS is a worldwide manufacturer of lighting solutions for the residential and architectural markets.
FLOS is sold in more than 94 countries and has single-brand stores in various markets: Rome; Milan; Paris; Hong Kong; Stockholm; New York; and Lyon, France.
