Beer industry raises funds for food banks
A beer-based fundraising campaign has brewed up support for food banks.
Forty Michigan breweries, beer bars and restaurants raised more than $45,000 for seven Feeding America-affiliated food banks in Michigan during the organization’s Hops Against Hunger campaign this fall.
Eleven establishments from West Michigan raised money during the campaign.
Certain establishments will continue to raise money year-round for the cause.
“We were amazed by the response,” said Sean Little, development associate at Feeding America West Michigan and the campaign’s organizer. “We forged so many great relationships with brewers. … And we’re excited to see those relationships develop in the future.”
Hops Against Hunger was created in 2016.
