Group opening 'modern' Mexican restaurant downtown
A local restaurant group plans to open its third West Michigan restaurant.
Grand Rapids-based CDKI Dining said today it will open MeXo restaurant in January inside the former Brian’s Books space in downtown Grand Rapids, at 120 Fulton St. E.
CDKI is the parent company of West Olive-based Sandy Point Beach House and Zoko 822, which is opening in early December in downtown Grand Rapids.
MeXo will serve “pre-Hispanic modern Mexican” and a wide selection of tequila beverages.
Geoff Gaskin, president of CDKI Dining, said the menu will incorporate “the cooking methods and tastes of old world Mexico together with those of today’s familiar Mexican cuisine.”
Oscar Morano, a native of Puerta Vallarta, Mexico who has worked in restaurants all over the world, will serve as MeXo’s executive chef.
CDKI said his menu will feature “authentic regional cuisine, craft margaritas, extensive tequila and mezcal selection and homemade tortillas.”
