A local manufacturer is accepting applications for up to 16 educational grants worth $67,000 each.

Steelcase Education is launching the fourth cycle of its Active Learning Center Grants.

Up to 16 schools will receive one of four active learning classroom styles for up to 30 students per classroom. This includes $67,000 in furniture, design review, installation, on-site training and a learning environment evaluation measurement tool.

Recipients also receive training on education strategies, access to research, connections with other grant recipients and marketing opportunities through Steelcase Education.

Eligible classrooms include grades 6-12, plus colleges.

Steelcase Education has awarded the grant to 40 classrooms since the program's inception to “partner with educators who are implementing new pedagogies and technologies to help them discover space as a tool to advance active learning” and share research about active learning spaces.

Proposals are due Feb. 2. There is a webinar scheduled for Jan. 10 to share information about the application process.

Applicants can learn more and submit proposals online.
