The Right Place names board members

A local economic development agency has named its new board members for 2018.

The Right Place’s nominating committee met in November and brought recommendations to the full board in December.

There are six new board members, replacing seven retiring board members.

There are 42 members total, with 12 making up the executive committee, which provides overall leadership, guidance and direction for the rest of the board and organization.

Re-appointed officers

Chair: Brian Walker, president and CEO, Herman Miller

Vice chair: Sean Welsh, regional president, PNC Financial Services

Treasurer: Mitch Joppich, Grand Rapids managing partner, PricewaterhouseCoopers

Executive Committee appointment

Richard Haslinger, President, West Michigan Region Chase

New appointments

Wayman Britt, acting county administrator, Kent County

Jeff Needham, president, Consumer Healthcare-Americas, Perrigo Company

Bill Pink, Ph.D., president, Grand Rapids Community College

Garrick Rochow, SVP of operations, Consumers Energy

Rob Spohr, VP for Academic Affairs, Montcalm Community College (Montcalm Economic Alliance representative, two-year term)

Bob Wolford, attorney at law, Miller Johnson

Retiring from the board

Todd Blake, president, Newaygo County Economic Development Organization

John Hendrickson, president, Perrigo Company

Daniel Malone, SVO of Engineering, Consumers Energy

The Right Place

The Right Place is a regional an economic development nonprofit founded in 1985 and supported through investments from the private and public sectors.

Its mission is to promote economic growth in the areas of quality employment, productivity and technology in West Michigan by developing jobs through leading business retention, expansion and attraction efforts.
