LaughFest names more comedians
Gilda’s LaughFest has added more comedians and events to its lineup.
The “festival of laughter” will now include John Mulaney and Rik Roberts, as well as a performance by Teresa Thorne.
The 10-day event runs from March 8-18. It benefits Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids.
The festival also said this week it is adding the Super Saturday Kids Zone on March 17 at Grand Rapids Community College and the Kids Rock Hip Hop Dance Party on March 10 at The B.O.B.
Mulaney, an Emmy Award-winning writer and comedian, will be on stage on March 14 at DeVos Performance Hall. The comedian has starred in the Broadway hit “Oh, Hello on Broadway” and has released his third hour-long stand-up special on Netflix, “The Comeback Kid.”
Roberts will perform his comedy show on March 17 at Fountain Street Church. He has performed on several comedy shows, including “Stand Up for Families,” “Bananas Comedy,” “20 Greatest Redneck Moments” and was a writer and performer on “The Henry Cho Comedy Show.”
Thorne will take the stage at Dog Story Theater on March 9-10 to perform “Warm Cheese,” a humorous inspirational work based on her journey following her mother’s death. She was the executive producer, co-writer and co-host of the television special “Holiday Memories of Grand Rapids,” which aired the past four years on NBC and the ABC affiliates in Grand Rapids.
Back in November, Gilda LaughFest announced the names of the other comedians who will be performing: Tiffany Haddish, Trevor Noah, Greg Hahn, Anjelah Johnson, Cameron Esposito and more.
The festival will feature the Clean Comedy Showcase from March 8-10, the National Stand-up Comedy Showcase from March 16-17 and the Best of the Midwest competition on March 14.
Other shows announced include Pop Scholars, River City Improv, Rockin’ Homegrown Jam, LaughFest’s Best and the Dirty Show.
